  • Executive Producer and creator, FRONTLINE, the PBS documentary series since 1983

  • 2004 Columbia University Journalism Award

  • AFS student living with Don Strauss' sister, Marjorie Anderson and family, 1964/65

  • Don and Dorothy Strauss gave the seed funding for his first major documentary in 1974

DUNCAN STRAUSS

  • Graduate of UC Davis

  • Former journalist/critic for the Los Angeles Times

  • Co-owner of Strauss-McGarr Entertainment - manages comedians, operates a comedy club

  • Hosts Talking Animals, an NPR radio show about animals and animal issues

GORDON STRAUSS, M.D.

  • Graduate of Stanford University and NYU Medical School

  • Formerly on psychiatry faculty at UCLA Medical School

  • Currently practices and teaches psychiatry at University of Louisville

  • Swims for exercise; indulges taste for gourmet food to overcome the beneficial effects of swimming

MATTHEW STRAUSS

  • Graduate of Vassar College and California Western School of Law

  • Attorney practicing in San Diego

  • Son of Gordon Strauss and eldest grandson of Don and Dorothy Strauss

  • Inherited Don and Dorothy’s love of playing in the ocean

  • Strauss Scholar 2002; the award funded his project "Bridging the Digital Divide" focused on getting underprivileged youth computers and a computer education

  • Selected as one of the first Strauss Scholars to serve on the Board of Trustees

  • Former Chief of Staff to California EPA Secretary & Senior Policy Advisor to Gov Arnold Schwarzenegger 

  • Managing Partner of Mozaic Media & Communications, a national Public Relations & Advocacy Firm 

  • 2005 Strauss Scholar - Project focused on Bringing Education & Career Opportunities to Juvenile Hall Youth in LA County (2005 National Telly Award Recipient for Documentary Aram produced on his journey)

  • Selected as one of  the first Strauss Scholars to serve on the Board of Trustees

G. JENNIFER WILSON, PH.D.

  • UCLA Professor in the Honors Program for 35 years; recently retired

  • Held leadership positions and received awards for teaching, advocacy of writing in the curriculum, and contributions to the special series of courses called the Honors Collegium

  • Believes that commitment to the public good very much includes discovering what it means to live a significant life

  • As the campus representative for the Strauss Scholarship, launched all 25 of the UCLA Strauss Scholars in the first 20 years of the Foundation.

  • Graduate of Stanford, DPhil Oxford (Rhodes Scholar), NYU Law

  • Senior Editor Just Security

  • Senior Fellow & Visiting Scholar , NYU School of Law; Lecturer, U C Berkeley Schools of Law; Lecturer & Affiliate, Center for International Security & Cooperation, Stanford University.

  • Deputy Legal Adviser to the National Security Council, Department of State, and Special Assistant to the President & Assoc. White House Counsel in President Obama's administration. 

  • 2002 Strauss Scholar from Stanford.  "Building Bridges to Community Health in Underserved Areas" . She co-founded a non-profit, which promoted  the cultivation of the high protein grain, Amaranth, which is also high in Folic Acid. They also worked to create a sustainable market for it.
